Juneteenth Black History Facts Middle Passage

Today is Juneteenth, On this day in U.S. slavery, Union soldiers arrived to liberate enslaved Blacks in Galveston, Texas who had been held in captivity nearly two and half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. While Black Texans and others across the country have been celebrating Juneteenth since 1865, we've found that some of our folks (especially in the North) are rather quiet about the holiday.
